Smoothie Factory ramps up India stores

US-based smoothie bar and nutrition supplement franchise Smoothie Factory targets 90 outlets across India by 2019.

Smoothie Factory, which serves fruit smoothies, juices, frozen yogurts, gourmet paninis, salads and waffles, will invest around Rs50 crore (around $8.4 million) to open up to 45 company-owned stores in India within five years.

“In the next five years, we would have around 90 outlets, in which 40 to 45 would be company owned and the rest would be franchise based,” said Smoothie Factory India chief brand officer Arjun Khera.

The company says it is revamping its menu, launching shakes more suited for the Indian tastes and sandwiches with tandoori options.

Smoothie Factory has presence in Delhi and Gurgaon, having started its Indian business a year ago.
