Third Shanghai restaurant for Jumbo Group

Singapore’s Jumbo Group is opening its third Jumbo Seafood outlet in Shanghai, and plans at least three more restaurants in China and/or Singapore within the next two years.

Covering about 650 sqm, the restaurant is in the Shanghai International Finance Centre, a six-storey luxury shopping mall in the heart of the Lujiazui financial trade zone. The centre also has two office towers, a luxury hotel and a deluxe serviced-suite hotel.

Already the Jumbo Group has two seafood outlets in Shanghai, at the IAPM Mall (Xuhui district) and at Raffles City (Huangpu), which opened in November 2013 and August 2015 respectively. Its restaurants in China account for about 8.5 per cent of revenue, amounting to $10.5 million and a year-on-year increase of about 60.2 per cent.

“Going forward, we will continue to ensure quality food and service to build a loyal customer base, and leverage on positive industry trends such as the increase in consumer affluence and willingness to spend on food,” says CEO/executive chairman Ang Kiam Meng.

“We will also focus on building a strong local middle-management in Shanghai, and use our experience there as a springboard into the rest of mainland China.”
