Red Wing Shoe Company opens in Malaysia

Red Wing Shoe Company has entered Southeast Asia with the grand opening of a store in Kuala Lumpur.

In Avenue K Shopping Mall, the American safety footwear brand offers a customised shopping experience for its full range of head-to-toe personal protective equipment. This includes not only protective footwear, but also flame-resistant workwear, safety glasses, gloves and other personal protective equipment and accessories.

As well as supporting the energy market in Southeast Asia, the store will offer Vasque, Red Wing’s product line of performance hiking boots and shoes, and its Heritage collection of handcrafted work-inspired lifestyle footwear.

Leather chairs, brick walls, custom fixtures and a sound system provide an industrial work-themed atmosphere for shoppers, connecting them with the company’s core principles: safety, performance and service.

The signature store offers foot-scanning technology that quickly identifies an individual’s arch type, foot size and pressure points.

The new store is a result of Red Wing’s collaboration with Leeden National Oxygen, a distributor partner for more than four decades. The two organisations have already opened stores in Singapore.

In the footwear industry for more than 110 years, Red Wing has in the past half-century become a head-to-toe provider for the international energy industry, says eastern hemisphere MD Paul Olson. “From oil rigs to shipping docks, factory floors to refineries, we’ve supported Malaysian oil and gas workers for more than three decades through our distribution services.”

In the US, Red Wing opens a nearly every eight days and has also set up an extensive global footprint with distribution in more than 110 countries.
