SME 1000 Awards: keeping it in the family

Two related companies, UA Sports (SEA) and Triple, have won commerce/retail segment recognition at this year’s Singapore SME 1000 Awards.

A restaurant chain has also had success in the awards.

UA Sports took the net profit growth excellence award with its ranking at 80, while Triple took the sales/turnover growth excellence award ranked at 38.
“As a firm believer in building a passionate and committed workforce, we continue to empower our staff to be passionate educators and advocates of Under Armour and our other brands,” says UA Sports and Triple CEO Michael Binger.

He says the group has investment plans to reinforce its e-commerce and omnichannel presence across the region, which will be “crucial” to growth. Further, stores will be rolled out in such markets as Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand.

Established in 2013, Triple holds the exclusive distribution rights for the Under Armour brand across Southeast Asia, launching the brand in Singapore and the Philippines in May 2014. It also has distribution rights for niche sports brands C3Fit, Every Second Counts, Newline and Odlo.

Meanwhile, Chinese restaurant chain company Pu Tien Holdings won the sales/turnover growth excellence award in the Singapore SME 1000 Awards’ hospitality/F&B sector.

CEO/founder Fong Chi Chung says its has been a year of rapid expansion for the business, which moved into the China market last year. The Putien restaurant chain started as a coffee shop in Kitchener Road in 2000 and now has 49 outlets in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taiwan.
