Featured store: Kura Sushi flagship in Tokyo
Japanese restaurant chain Kura Sushi has opened a flagship restaurant in Tokyo’s Asakusa district, designed by Kashiwa Sato of Samurai.
The Kura Sushi eatery features traditional Japanese architecture with wooden interiors. The frame of a wooden ‘house’ stands in the heart of the restaurant, creating a canopy over seating and the conveyor belts carrying food.
Kura Sushi also offers an app for customers to self check-in, make payment or even show them available seats in the restaurant.
Tablets are installed at 270 seats of the restaurant, which are able to handle different languages for foreign visitors.
Kura Sushi operates 440 restaurants across Japan and more than 20 outlets internationally. The company has recently unveiled its expansion into the China market.
