Japanese giant retailer Nitori has opened its first store in South Korea as part of an expansion strategy announced in September.

The space, located inside an E-Mart Hawolgok branch, covers roughly 27,043 sqft and is dedicated to giving “the richness of housing to people all over the world”.

Nitori intends to accomplish 3 trillion yen (US$20 trillion) in sales and launch 10 stores in South Korea by next year, with the goal of expanding its regional store network to 200 outlets over the next ten years.

The Japanese retailer began its Asian expansion with stores in Malaysia and Singapore. The brand established its first store in Thailand in August and its first location in Hong Kong last month.

The company also intends to establish a presence in Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines, increasing the total number of stores in Asia to 206, with an ambition to open 300 locations overseas each year beginning in 2025.
