Convenience store chain GS25 is targeting to increase its overseas store network to 1000 by 2025 and 1500 by 2027, according to Yonhap.

GS Group’s convenience store chain made its international debut with the first store in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in January 2018. The number of locations in the country has jumped from 26 in 2018 to 245.

The chain also made a foray into Mongolia in May 2021 and has reached 273 stores in the country since. It also plans to raise the number of locations in Mongolia to 500 by 2025.

“Sales in the two Asian countries also jumped, helped by K-foods, such as ‘tteokbokki,’ or stir-fried rice cakes, and fried chicken, as well as coffee and spaces for eating in GS25 stores,” the company said in a statement.

Launched in 1990 and formerly known as LG25, GS25 is one of the leading convenience store chains in South Korea, with more than 16,400 locations in the country as of 2022.
