Maria Grazia Chiuri has resigned as Dior’s creative director of women’s collection, as part of the LVMH board’s brand shakeup.

As the first woman to hold the creative director position at Dior, a brand with a long-standing presence, Chiuri joined the brand in 2016. She ran her last Dior cruise fashion show in Rome earlier this week.

Before joining Dior, the Italian designer had previously worked for Valentino and Fendi, and is known for her feminist approach, which she presented in the collection that debuted at her first Dior show.

“She has written a key chapter in the history of Christian Dior, greatly contributing to its remarkable growth and being the first woman to lead the creation of women’s collections,” said Delphine Arnault, Christian Dior’s chairman and CEO.

While no decisions on Chiuri’s successor have been made, Jonathan Anderson, who left the role of Loewe’s creative director in March, has been appointed Dior’s menswear creative director. His first collection debut is slated for June 27 in the Paris Fashion Week.

Earlier this month, major fashion houses like Chanel, Versace, Valentino, and Celine reportedly made changes to their designer lineups.
