Canadian athleisure brand Lululemon is set to enter the Indian market through a franchise agreement with local distributor Tata Cliq, marking a significant step in the brand’s international expansion strategy.
The brand will launch its first brick-and-mortar store in India in the second half of next year, with a digital presence on Tata Cliq Luxury and Tata Cliq Fashion.
Gopal Asthana, CEO of Tata Cliq, said the partnership aims to introduce Indian customers to Lululemon’s premium athletic wear and lifestyle products.
“The partnership will introduce Lululemon’s innovative athletic and lifestyle apparel, footwear, and accessories to India, providing guests with high-performance products to support a wide range of activities, including yoga, running, training, tennis, and golf,” he said
Founded in 1998, Lululemon now operates more than 760 stores worldwide, spanning North America, Europe, and the Apac region.
The India launch aligns with Lululemon CEO Calvin McDonald’s broader vision of expanding the brand’s global footprint to 1000 locations.
