Japanese handmade hamburger patty specialist Yamamoto Hamburg will enter the Hong Kong market next month, opening its first local outlet at PopCorn, Tseung Kwan O.

The launch marks the brand’s second expansion outside Japan, following Taiwan, and builds on the Hong Kong presence of its sister concept, Hikiniku to Come, which debuted in 2024.

The 1700sqft Hong Kong flagship will seat more than 60 diners. Designed to reflect the brand’s warm, community-driven ethos, the interior will feature natural wood finishes, soft lighting, and casual seating to encourage relaxed, family-style dining.

Founded in 2005 by Shohei Yamamoto, Yamamoto Hamburg focuses on freshly made hamburg patties using Australian Black Angus beef and Spanish pork, positioning itself as a casual, family-oriented concept.

“Since opening in Tokyo two decades ago, my vision has been to share the joy of Japanese handmade hamburg – crafted with safe, reliable ingredients and the warmth of home cooking – with the world, so I am delighted to introduce my first hamburg brand, Yamamoto Hamburg, to Hong Kong,” said Yamamoto.

“Compared to the innovative style of Hikiniku to Come, Yamamoto Hamburg presents an authentic daily feast centred upon family and the comforting essence of Japanese dining, just as my mother used to prepare.”

The chef also added that Tseung Kwan O was selected due to its residential density and mall-based foot traffic.
