Singapore’s Marina Square shopping centre is set to close next March for a major redevelopment that will see it anchor a ‘hyper-mixed complex’.
Operator Singapore Land said Marina Square’s redevelopment will introduce luxury residences, serviced apartments, premium offices, public parks, arts and cultural spaces, and sports and wellness facilities.
As part of the revamp, the four-storey Marina Square retail mall will be “comprehensively reimagined” as the connected heart of the transformed precinct.
Asset enhancement across more than 76,000sqm of GFA will bring a broader mix of food and beverage, sports, wellness and lifestyle concepts, alongside landscaped and pet-friendly environments.
The project will also add three new towers, which will house a 304-key hotel, a 260-key serviced apartment, 204 large-format luxury homes, and premium Grade A offices with approximately 13,000sqm of lettable space.
Movement across the site will be simplified through direct roofscape access from existing hotels and new towers. This will allow Marina Square to function as both a destination and an intuitive route through the wider development.
The mall will also support activity across different times of day and serve office workers, residents, hotel guests and visitors throughout Marina Bay.
“As Marina Bay enters its next phase, we have an opportunity to reimagine Marina Square as a more connected and compelling destination,” said Jonathan Eu, CEO of Singapore Land.
“By adding residences, serviced apartments and workplaces alongside the existing hotels and repositioning the mall around experience-led retail, sports, wellness and community, we are creating a new ecosystem where people can live, work, stay and connect.”
To facilitate the construction, Marina Square will close on March 31, while the three existing hotels will remain fully operational.
Singapore Land said it will continue events and activities to maintain mall visibility, drive shopper footfall, and support retail sales. The project is expected to be completed by 2031.
