Scottish retailer opens HK pop-up

Museum Context, a Scottish retail concept, has opened a popup store in the Landmark centre on Queen’s Rd Central, Hong Kong.

Museum Context was created by Andrew and Alice McRae, founders of Context Interiors, a Scotland-based independent retail business.

Context Interiors, together with its partner Hong Kong Land, has created a boutique style pop-up shop which sells vintage home interior pieces and Christmas gift items. The store opened on November 4 will trade until January 21.

“We believe that Hong Kong is a great opportunity for us. The combination of the ‘treasure trove’ store concept and the unique and distinctive collection of products that visitors will find inside is unprecedented,” said Andrew McRae.

Customers can choose from an array of curated items including hand-made solitaire sets that use individually blown Venetian glass marbles, Marie Galante ladies make-up trunk and Marconi spotlight tripod floor lamp.

The pop-up shop measuring 500sqft provides customers with a museum store atmosphere, a totally different environment from today’s usual retail store ambience. It opens from 10am to 7pm on Mondays to Sundays.

Context Interiors, headquartered in Edinburgh City, designs home furnishings, gifts, period detail and accessories. It has two permanent stores in Scotland, the Old Town Context and Context Interiors, both located in Edinburgh.

Museum Context in Hong Kong is the first international venture of the Context Interiors.
