Aerosoles sees strong Asia growth

US footwear retailer Aerosoles plans further expansion in Asia after promising results from its existing operations.

The company says sales have been strong in the Asian markets in which it already operates, including China, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, the Philippines and Thailand.

Aerosoles says it will increase its sales ratio in Asia to 20 per cent of its total global business – nearly double the present ratio.

“Asian women want to feel more comfortable but still look good in their shoes,” said Karen Sadick, EVP for merchandising of Aerosoles.

In Thailand, its second fastest Asian market after China, Aerosoles has 23 points of sale including CentralPlaza Lardprao and CentralWorld. It is operated in the country by its local franchisee AA Footwear whose portfolio also includes the Geox and Pierre Cardin brands.

An investment of 15 million baht (US$486 705) is to be spent for three store openings at Central Airport Plaza in Chiang Mai, Mega Bangna and CentralPlaza Bang Na.

Aerosoles currently has 350 stores and 1000 points of sales in 16 countries globally. The brand includes boots, pumps, casual shoes such as wedges and sandals, loafers and flats.
