Nature’s Basket expands

Gourmet retail chain Nature’s Basket is to expand its presence in India with six stores slated to open by the end of this year.

A part of Indian business house Godrej Group, Nature’s Basket carries international products such as cheeses from Italy and France, spices from Thailand, hams and salamis from Europe and vinegars from the Mediterranean. It will soon promote ethnic Japanese foods through a partnership with Japanese government.

Currently operating 19 outlets in Mumbai, Gurgaon, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune and Bengaluru, Nature’s Basket expects a sales growth of 60 per cent this fiscal year.

“We see demand growing in large cities where we are already present. Therefore, we plan to continue our focus on the upper end of the market. As per our strategy, we should have over 25 stores by December,” Nature’s Basket MD Mohit Khattar said.
