Lotteria expands in Indonesia

Fast-food restaurant chain Lotteria will grow its presence in Indonesia with 50 new outlets planned by 2015 at a total investment of US$20 million.

Lotteria and its franchisee PT Mondial Risjad Fastana aims to make the chain one of the top three fast food restaurants in Indonesia by 2020.

“We are planning to open 15 outlets in Jakarta this year,” said PT Mondial Risjad Fastana president director Handi Irawan.

Irawan is confident Lotteria will gain a strong customer base in Indonesia alongside with Hallyu or Korean pop culture wave swiftly gaining popularity among Indonesians.

Lotteria, a subsidiary of Korean conglomerate Lotte Group, currently has three outlets in Indonesia located in Fatmawati in South Jakarta, Kelapa Gading in North Jakarta and Bintaro in Tangerang.

Lotte Group forayed in Indonesia in 2008 when it bought 19 Makro stores in the country which it converted into Lotte Mart. At present, there are 24 Lotte Mart in Indonesia and is expected to grow to 100 by 2018.

Lotteria spans in five Asian countries including South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan and Vietnam, where biggest rival McDonald’s has not yet ventured.
