Cybermart on China expansion

Cybermart, the retail arm of Taiwan-based electronics maker Hon Hai Group, eyes significant future growth in China.

The computer, consumer electronics and communications retailer, will open Cyber Plaza 3C stores in malls in Chinese first-tier cities, Cyber 3C+ stores in smaller cities and Cyber Mobile stores in lower tier cities. The retailer will also roll out its online store in the second half of this year.

Cybermart said it will also expand its portfolio of products to cater for growing demand. To support its expansion, it will use cloud technology and will strengthen its logistics, says chairman Chang Jui-lin.

Cybermart China network counts 34 stores, since it debuted China in 2010, with strongest presence in Beijing and Shanghai.

In its home country, Cybermart has recently opened its first Cyber 3C+ store in Taoyuan. It is also expected to open Taipei IT Park in September or October next year, which is said to be a version of Akihabara, a 3C shopping area in Tokyo, Japan.

Future expansions are targeted for Hong Kong and some Southeast Asian countries.
