Oka signs Asian deal

UK-based furniture and homewares retailer Oka and Hong Kong-based LF Products, a subsidiary of Li & Fung, have inked a licensing deal that would expand Oka internationally.

Established in 1999 by Annabel Astor, Lucinda Waterhouse and Sue Jones, Oka offers an entire range of products for the home, including sofas, upholstered furniture, dining tables and chairs, curtains, storage, beds, headboards and linen, rugs, lighting and more. Its local network includes 13 shops across the UK alongside a mail order, online and trade service.

LF Products, who will manage the supply chain, support marketing and sales of the business, will expand Oka’s presence to Asia, Middle East, Europe and the US.

Oka’s co-founder and CEO Annabel Astor commented on its global expansion: “When we set up the company in 1999 we never imagined that the mail order catalogue we created would grow into a global brand. Our resilience during the tough trading conditions of the past few years has enabled us to take this significant step forward.”

Oka will open a showroom in Shanghai to display its furnitures, lifestyle collections, cushions and textiles to promote the brand.
