Bosideng looks for wholesale stockists

Chinese retailer Bosideng said it has no plan to boost its retail presence in London, instead focussing more on its wholesale business.

Bosideng is currently in talks with premium department stores which can potentially stock and distribute its products. The retailer, which opened a flagship store in London last month, also plans to launch an online store in the UK.

The London flagship features a new premium menswear collection especially designed for the European market by Ash Gangotra and Nick Holland. According to UK director of retail operations Jason Denmark, each product in the collection will be limited to 50 pieces only to underline its strategy “a unique piece that’s never repeated”.

The flagship store, which cost the company more than £30 million (around US$47 million), also serves as its headquarters in Europe.

While it has no concrete plan to expand its retail presence in the UK, the Chinese retailer is looking for opportunities to open a store in Milan and New York within the next 18 to 24 months.

Bosideng, which operates six core brands Bosideng, Bosideng Man, Bosideng Ricci, Vetallo and Jessie and Mogao, reported a robust performance for the year to March 31, with sales rise of 19 per cent to £837 million (US$1.3 billion).
