Samsung opens Sydney flagship

Samsung’s first retail store in Australia is now trading.

The flagship is located at 450 George St, just metres from Apple’s largest store in Australia and its first flagship Down Under.

The ‘Experience Store’ showcases and sells Samsung’s devices such as smartphones, laptops, tablet computers, digital cameras, wireless audio docks, mobile accessories and TVs. It also features an ‘app zone’ where Samsung users can explore apps and a Samsung music hub. A lower-set table designed as ‘play zone’ has been equipped to entertain children with games demonstrations.

The store also launched Samsung’s new tablet, the Galaxy Note 10.1.

Samsung’s VP of telecommunications in Australia, Tyler McGee, said the opening of the first Samsung store will play a key role in enhancing the company’s dialogue with Australians.

“While the store is fundamentally a place where Australians can find and buy the latest Samsung products, what makes it different is the opportunities it provides shoppers to learn and experience the power of sharing content across multiple products and illustrate how products like our smart phones and TVs can work together,” said McGee.

Samsung has partnered with three mobile operators in Australia: Optus, Vodafone and Telstra which will also sell Samsung’s smartphones and tablets.

“Customers will be able to purchase in store through any of those operators, as well as outright if that is their preferred option,” said McGee.

McGee said the Sydney store would be a barometer for Samsung’s expansion plan in Australia.
