Sprooki gets funding

Asia’s mobile retail system provider Sprooki has raised another S$590,000 (US$480,000) in seed funding led by Singapore and US-based incubator, Get2Volume, in partnership with the National Research Foundation’s Technology Incubator Scheme (TIS).

This takes Sprooki’s total funding to date to S$1 million (US$810,000).

“This funding will enable us to expand our footprint in international markets and partnerships with Asia’s finest malls and retail brands while maintaining our focus on mobile shopper insights and building better mobile shopping experiences for our clients and users,” said Claire Mula, MD and co-founder of Sprooki.

Sprooki launched its concept service in October 2011 with Orchard Rd shopping mall, 313@Somerset. More than 35,000 product offers were viewed and double-digit mobile sales conversion experienced inside of four weeks. Malls immediately see the value in the service and 313 was among the first to license the technology under its own brand.

Since launch, Sprooki has engaged with over 60 malls and retail partners in Singapore and Asia. The platform has rapidly evolved its feature offering based on Sprooki’s in-market experience, extensive geo-purchase consumer data and mobile user research.

Sprooki’s mobile retail system, which encompasses proximity marketing, mobile hopping and data analytics makes ‘location-based commerce’ a reality for malls and retailers in Asia. The system can be implemented by malls and traditional retailers under their own brand and for their own shoppers in a number of weeks.
