New Beijing retail development opens

Chinese commercial property developer Soho China has opened the latest addition to its portfolio of retail properties.

The newest retail development – Galaxy Soho – in Beijing spans across 330,000 sqm over 18 floors (15 floors above ground, three floors below). The mixed-use development is an ensemble of four building volumes which coalesce and fuse, pull apart and connect, via bridges and plateaus.

Located in Chaoyangmen, Galaxy Soho’s location offers accessibility by all modes of transportation. It sits above numerous bus routes as well as Subway lines 2 and 6, and is conveniently accessible to the airport and ring road network. Its underground commercial area is connected to subway entrances and exits providing superior conditions for daily pedestrian traffic flow.

Galaxy Soho was designed by architect Zaha Hadid who is also behind Opera House in Guangzhou, Sky Soho in Shanghai and Wangjing Soho in Beijing.

“The natural rhythms and flows of the city, of the environment and of the people have been integrated within the design to define its formal composition,” said Hadid.
