Dufry expands in China

Dufry has opened a 2300 sqm fashion and beauty outlet at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in China.

Spread across two wings at Terminal 2, Dufry has brought specialised boutiques with renowned brands like Armani, Swarovski, Hugo Boss, Coach, Ferragamo, Bally,Tumi, and Montblanc – the first Montblanc boutique operated by Dufry worldwide.

The multibrand perfumes and cosmetics outlet offers brands such as Estee Lauder, Lancôme, Clarins, Bobbi Brown and L’Occitane.

Dufry also opened the first Hudson store in China under the ‘Hudson Market’ concept. As the pioneering Hudson outlet for the country, the Hudson Market outlet offers an assortment of international-branded accessories, souvenirs, health and beauty products, local souvenirs and travel items, bringing an international flavour to destination retailing in Chengdu.

The retail area is complemented with a café serving an assortment of snacks, cold drinks and hot beverages, making it the only integrated retail and dining outlet in Chengdu Airport.

Dufry entered China in 2010 by opening a 3000 sqm luxury fashion shops in Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.

“The recent opening of our outlets in Chengdu further cements our growth strategy in China – one of the fastest-expanding travel retail markets in the world,” said Dufry CEO Julian Diaz.

“With the first Hudson store in Chengdu, we also have a strong base to roll out the Hudson concept to other airports, transportation hubs and tourist destinations in China,” he added.

Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is the main air transportation gateway for Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province in Western China.

In 2011, the airport handled 29 million passengers, ranking as the fifth busiest in mainland China. The new Terminal 2 was officially opened on August 9, taking the total airport handling capacity to 35 million passengers annually.
