Gucci opens largest Indian store

Luxury brand Gucci has opened its fifth and largest store in India at The Oberoi Hotel in Gurgaon.

The new store spans more than 4220 sqft over two floors and offers a wide selection of accessories including handbags, shoes, luggage, small leather goods, silks, watches, jewellery, fragrances and sunglasses.

It also showcases exclusive pieces from the men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections with a dedicated space for the ‘Made to measure’ service for customised suiting and a ‘Made to order’ service for signature men’s shoes. An exclusive made-to-order handbag program comprising of the Gucci’s most iconic bags is on sale.

The store, designed by creative director Frida Giannini, is fitted with Gucci’s signature rosewood and marble materials, enhanced with new elements such as ribbed glass, warm polished gold, smoked mirrors and smoked bronze glass.

To commemorate the occasion, iconic pieces from the Gucci Museo – the Flora pattern – will be exhibited for one month. The exhibition comprises flora scarves from the 1960’s, women’s ready-to-wear pieces including mini dresses, blouses and gowns with the flora print, original drawings of floral scarves from the 1960’s and 1970’s by illustrator Vittorio Accornero, handbags with the flora and unique porcelain items such as flora cachepots, ashtrays, glasses, mugs and a lamp.

“The opening of this flagship store in Gurgaon underscores Gucci’s commitment to India and is testament to the importance that we are placing on this fast growing and competitive market,” said Gucci president and CEO Patrizio di Marco.
