Desigual to debut in Malaysia

Spanish fashion company Desigual will enter the Malaysia market with the opening of two stores at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The stores will open next month at KLIA’s Satellite terminal building and will be operated by the company’s local partner Perniagaan Wafada. The first store will stock women’s apparel, the other accessories such as bags, hats, scarves and belts.

KLIA provides brands with visible and strategic entry point to the country, hence, the decision to choose the airport as its first location in the country, says Perniagaan Wafada MD Tuan Haji Md Idris Ab Aziz.

“Over the past year, Malaysia Airports has been successful in attracting some of the most coveted brand names particularly to KLIA. What makes it even more satisfying is the fact that KLIA is the first destination for many of these brands, taking precedence over downtown malls. This speaks volumes about our efforts to position our airports as lifestyle destinations,” said Puan Faizah Khairuddin, senior GM, commercial services division, Malaysia Airports.

KLIA is Desigual’s second airport location in Asia after Changi Airport in Singapore. The company’s presence in the continent also includes standalone stores in Singapore, Japan and Shanghai and shops-in-shops in department stores including Sogo, Takashimaya, Parkson, Lotte and Isetan.
