Australian menswear brand targets India

Pudu, a men’s clothing brand from Australia, has opened its first store in Goa in West India.

The store debuts a first-of-its-kind collection for men designed by former model, co-founder and creative head of Pudu, Andrew Piers in partnership with local entrepreneur David D’Souza. The collection, which showcases Piers’ spin on classic menswear pieces, range from accessories to outerwear such as shirts, shorts, belts, pants and jackets.

“There is a serious need for clothes that are stylish, international in look and feel, and comfortable. Pudu is all of that and more,” said D’Souza.

The store’s opening is in line with Pudu’s approach of opening franchise stores in key cities across the country, it says.

“As part of our brand strategy, we aim to launch stores in select cities that do not have access to classic, comfortable, yet stylish clothes. Our partnership with David clearly establishes our intent and we plan to announce a few more stores across India in the near future,” said Piers.

He added the company was steering clear of metro cities due to market saturation.

Pudu describes its brand as ‘classic’ and ‘never go out of style’ which it says are inspired by travels around the world.
