Pop Mart has opened its first store in Malaysia as part of its expansion strategy in Southeast Asia.

The store, located on the fifth floor of the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur shopping mall on Jalan Bukit Bintang, marks Pop Mart’s two-year presence in the market after its first venture into Malaysia via an e-commerce platform two years ago.

The Pop Mart Pavilion KL store features 146sqm and is created with a bright and colourful theme to target young customers. In addition, the Chinese company intends to continue developing its Malaysian market by opening more offline stores and unmanned ‘roboshops’ in key Malaysian cities.

Justin Moon, global president of Pop Mart, told local sources that Malaysia has enormous potential as the region’s second-largest market after Singapore, and the company is looking forward to further developing in other Southeast Asian markets and establishing a comprehensive offline and online sales network while valuing local culture.

Following its entry into the UK, Pop Mart began operating in France earlier this year.
