Siam Piwat goes virtual

Thai mall developer and operator Siam Piwat is venturing into e-commerce to cater to more and more shoppers turning to the web.

The online portal called Siamism offers products from more than 200 shops such as fashion, gadgets, beauty products, accessories and lifestyle items.

While its two shopping malls Siam Center and Siam Discovery also offer e-commerce, Siam Piwat said Siamism will differentiate itself by offering limited edition products, promos and discounts. Prices at Siamism are also cheaper than that of the two shopping malls.

Siam Piwat has appointed Digimedia Marketing Company to supervise the online shopping, electronic marketing and social media activities of the portal.

The web store is initially accessible only to domestic shoppers, but the company says it will be extended to international shoppers by next year.

Siamism, which was soft launched in October, is already registering 100,000 visits monthly, twice the company’s projection. First year sales are projected to reach 10 million baht (US$326,296).
