Cybermart goes virtual

Cybermart, an operator of IT and consumer electronics retail chains in Taiwan and China belonging to the Foxconn Group, is to enter e-commerce.

The retailer will open an online shopping platform called WowCyber in Taiwan, initially collaborating with Yahoo Taiwan to sell and promote products online.

Cybermart also plans physical expansion in China, taking its store count to more than 1000 by the end of next year from less than 100 currently.

It says the online store will service the growing number of shoppers turning to the web to shop.

With competitors now embracing e-commerce, Cybermart says it is the right time to do the same.

Online shopping accounts for eight to nine per cent of Taiwan consumers’ shopping and is expected to increase further now that mobile shopping is on the rise.
