Visa, King Power launch promotion

To celebrate their seven-year partnership, Visa and Thailand’s King Power have signed an exclusive agreement offering Thai shoppers and foreign travellers special deals.

The exclusive agreement extends benefits for Visa cardholders to all King Power duty free stores including in shopping complexes in Bangkok and Pattaya and at international airports in Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi International Airport), Phuket and Chiang Mai.

In addition to year-round shopping deals, special promotions will be timed to coincide with peak travel seasons such as the Thai New Year (Songkran) and during the Thailand Grand Sale. For the upcoming Chinese New Year, Visa cardholders who spend 5000 baht or more at King Power will receive a 200 baht cash voucher. This promotion runs from January 15 to February 28, 2013.

“Over the past seven years, Visa and King Power have enjoyed successes together and to mark our renewed partnership, we will be offering attractive perks to our cardholders at all King Power duty free stores,” said Visa country manager in Thailand Somboon Krobteeranon.

“The privileges that locals and tourists can look forward to include exclusive deals and savings that will help make Thailand an even more attractive shopping destination. So whether visitors choose to pay with their Visa credit, debit or prepaid card, cardholders will be enjoying some of the best deals in town while enjoying the convenience and security that comes from paying with Visa,” added Krobteeranon.

Visa’s Global Travel Intentions Survey 2011, which surveyed global travellers on their future likely destinations, showed Thailand remains one of the top tourist destinations in Asia Pacific.

In addition to an exclusive partnership with King Power, Visa is also working closely with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to support the country’s tourism industry.

TAT recently reported that international tourist arrivals reached 21 million in 2012 and this number is expected to reach 24.5 million in 2013.

Visa will work with King Power to specifically customise promotions for visitors from China, Japan and Russia markets as they were among the top visitors to Thailand in 2012, according to TAT.
