The Shilla Duty Free heads offshore

The Shilla Duty Free, the travel retail arm of South Korean conglomerate Samsung Group, has expanded abroad with the opening of its first store in Singapore.

The duty free operator has opened a 26sqm Bottega Veneta store at Changi Airport with tenancy expiration in 2016. The store will be followed with another one in March – a 122sqm Prada store.

“We have opened one small Bottega Veneta outlet, which marks the beginning of our expansion strategy outside Korea,” said EVP Jason Cha.

The company started duty free business in 1986 and currently operates two downtown and four airport duty free shops in Korea.
