Ule focuses on mobile commerce

Ule.com.cn, a joint venture between Tom Group and China Post, plans to drive growth among mobile users in China.

“We are focusing on mobile e-commerce this year. This will increasingly drive the volume of online shopping in the world’s second-largest economy,” Tom Group CEO Ken Yeung Kwok-mung.

Ule, opened in 2010, offers wide selection of products including home goods, food and supplements, personal care, infant and mother care, fashion and electronic goods. Besides online shoppers, the population who do not shop online can also enjoy a convenient shopping experience as it offers phone-order service hotline and sales services in more than 50,000 post offices countrywide.

“Our partnership with China Post would generate both mobile and offline transactions,” he said.

The CEO says he agrees with Alibaba chairman Jack Ma that online transaction would make up 30 per cent of China’s total retail sales in five years.

iResearch predicts mobile shopping will underpin ongoing rapid growth and predicts the gross merchandise volume will exceed 3000 billion yuan in 2015 or 2016.
