Zalora books loss

Asian online fashion store Zalora booked a net loss of US$91 million in 2012.

Rocket Internet-backed Zalora expects profitability to improve in 2015 and forecasts a revenues of US$1.3 billion by 2016.

Zalora is banking on the continuing adoption of smartphones among Asians. It recently launched an iOS shopping app, which according to Tech In Asia, offers more than 500 brands and 15,000 products. Users can receive push notifications on the new items and flash sales that Zalora has, choose from multiple payment methods such as credit cards, PayPal and cash-on-delivery.

Meanwhile, with an aim to draw more shoppers, Zalora Indonesia has partnered with Indonesian telecommunication company Telkomsel. The two have launched the ‘Zalora Simpati Fashion Zone’ program which entitles Simpati users to get discounts from Zalora.

Singapore-based Zalora trades fashion products in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Philippines.
