Sunglass Hut makes HKIA airside debut

Eyewear retailer Sunglass Hut has opened its first airside store at Hong Kong International Airport.

The 47 sqm store offers eyewear from more than 20 brands such as Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Oakley, Ray-Ban, Coach and Prada.

Its parent company Luxottica Group considers the new store a major milestone in the expansion of the brand in Asia Pacific travel retail.

Director Roberto Cristiani said Sunglass Hut is committed to an ambitious expansion within Asia Pacific travel retail, with Hong Kong as one of the most important flagship locations.

Having set new records in both passenger volume and flight movements in 2012, Hong Kong International Airport makes a good location, having welcomed 56.5 million passengers and 352,000 aircraft movements last year.

“Sunglass Hut is a globally recognised and much sought after brand in retail and a true innovator when it comes to merchandising and in-store experience in the sunglasses category,” said Airport Authority Hong Kong GM for retail and advertising Albert Yau.
