Yata plans more openings

Japanese-themed department store Yata is planning further openings in Hong Kong after enjoying a sales boost.

Yata, a unit of Sun Hung Kai Properties, will open three new stores in Tsuen Wan, Tuen Mun and Mong Kok. The new openings will add to its current three stores in Sha Tin, Tai Po and San Po Kong.

Yata says the new openings are part of its target to operate 11 stores by 2017.

It is bullish about market prospects after sales grew 22.4 per cent in the first four months of the year as demand for Japanese products increased.

Established in 1990, Yata is a store concept devoted to delivering commodities from Japan to Hong Kong.
