Giordano to open megastore

Hong Kong apparel brand Giordano is to open its largest store in Southeast Asia – in Singapore in July.

The 8000 sqft flagship store within Suntec City shopping mall promises shoppers a new level of shopping experience. More additional features will be added such as wi-fi, best in-store fitting and sound entertainment system, says director of Southeast Asia operations Patrick Yeo.

“This new Giordano flagship store will be a showcase of our brand,” said Yeo.

Giordano plans to open 100 megastores in major Asian cities, depending upon the success of the Suntec megastore.

“We’ll have to monitor the performance of the Suntec store before deciding on our next move.”

According to Yeo, Giordano is earmarking S$5 million (US$3.9 million) to open new stores and strengthen its brand identity in Singapore over two to three years.

Sales in Singapore totalled HK$106 million during the first quarter of the year, accounting for seven per cent of its total sales of HK$5.7 billion.

While China was a weak market for the company during the first quarter, it said it will continue to develop its network in the market. New store formats aimed at women are to be introduced this year across the nation.
