Paul Smith opens new Chinese flagship

English fashion brand Paul Smith has opened its second store in China – in Beijing.

The new 359 sqm flagship in the Sanlitun area is designed to reflect Paul Smith, the brand, as “elegance and tradition meet a hint of playfulness and modernity”.

Reminiscent of Paul Smith’s shops in Los Angeles and Cape Town, the front of the Beijing shop sees a clash of yellow and pink tones, inspired by the architecture of Luis Barragan and the colours of artist Hélio Oiticica.

It offers men’s collection, women’s collection and shoes and accessories.

Paul Smith plans six more openings in China for the remaining year, including flagships in Chengdu and Shanghai.

The fashion brand re-entered China last year when it opened its first store in Tianjin. This time, Paul Smith is working with partner ImagineX, a sister company of Hong Kong’s Lane Crawford department store.

The two agreed to develop at least 24 stores in China over five years.
