Hamleys to enter Malaysia

British toy store Hamleys will add Malaysia to its global footprint with its first store scheduled for opening in December.

Hamley’s business in Malaysia is a partnership between Global Retail Venture and Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd.

The partnership is looking to open six to seven stores in Malaysia and Singapore in 10 years.

“We are confident of being able to more than meet this goal and are currently looking at shopping malls for suitable space,” said GRV director Azlin Ishak.

Besides stores, Hamleys also plans opening concessions or booths within venues such as airports.

Hamleys, which operates in 12 countries including India, says it is confident in expanding to Malaysia with the expertise of its partner GRV.
