Walmart India chief leaves

Walmart says its India head Raj Jain has departed from the company.

Without specifying why Jain left, Walmart said the position will be taken over by Ramnik Narsey, who is the current senior VP for Walmart International.

The departure is the latest setback for Walmart in India where it is facing probe of its expenditures in the country.

In November, the retailer suspended some executives in its Indian business including its chief financial officer as part of an internal bribery investigation.

Walmart, in partnership with Bharti Enterprises, operates 20 wholesale stores in India.

“We remain optimistic about our business in India and look forward to our future in India under Ramnik’s leadership,” said president and CEO of Walmart Asia Scott Price.
