Harrys enters India

Harrys of London has partnered with Franchise India to open stores in India.

First phase of its Indian expansion will include store openings in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, it says.

India, where bags and shoes form a large part of luxury market, is a viable market for Harrys, says Franchise India chairman Gaurav Marya.

Harrys CEO Giuseppe Bonfiglio said the company’s decision to enter India was based on culture, people and context.

“We usually look at customers more than we look at markets,” he said.

Bonfiglio is confident it can compete with other foreign luxury brands operating in India.

“Because we are a young, high quality brand, we have the flexibility that other larger brands/conglomerate don’t have,” said Bonfiglio.

Harrys is majority owned by Atelier Fund, a division of Richemont Group.
