Krispy Kreme sets Singapore opening date

The first Krispy Kreme store in Singapore will open in mid-October.

The US doughnut and coffee chain will occupy a space at the basement level of Tangs Department Store in Orchard Rd.

Krispy Kreme will give away 100,000 doughnuts at public places and offices prior to its launch to celebrate and promote the opening.

The Tangs store would be the first of the 15 stores planned for Singapore over the next five years by North Carolina-based Krispy Kreme and Singapore company Star360 Group.

The chain, which offers glazed doughnuts and other sweet treats, has been establishing franchise developments in Asia to expand its footprint in the region. Recently, it signed a new agreement with Lotte Group’s Lotteria Inc to open 60 new stores in South Korea.
