Indian retailer to double presence

Indian retailer The Collective plans doubling its store network to 15 within the next two years.

The Collective, a luxury chain owned by Madura Garments, will open its eighth store in Chennai and is looking to open in Hyderabad and Kolkata.

The company, which opened its first store in 2008, also eyes cities like Noida and Mumbai as well as smaller cities like Kochi.

Madura Garments COO R Satyajit is optimistic about the business due to its high numbers of repeat customers.

“The ups and downs in the economy are cyclical in nature and have not affected the luxury market much. I strongly believe that the India growth story is not over,” he said.

The Collective has a portfolio of international brands including Paul & Shark, Hackett, Robert Graham, Ted Baker, Michael Kors, Coccinelle, Lulu Guinness and Love Moschino.
