Italian shoemaker Geox is to ramp up its presence in China.
The company has ended its five-year distribution deal with Chinese shoe retailer Belle and forged a new partnership with Riqing Enterprise.
Now, it says it plans to increase its store count in China to 160 by the end of the year from 75 currently, a target that would see the company open five stores per week.
The company says Riqing Enterprise’ rich experience in high-end consumer products will help it improve its brand image.
Geox chairman Mario Moretti Polegato says that the company’s strategy in China foresees a strong presence that will develop both the brand and its distribution through single-brand channels.
The shoemaker also plans to open an online store at Tmall.com, in addition to bricks-and-mortar stores.
