World’s largest Uniqlo opens in Shanghai

Japanese apparel brand Uniqlo has opened its largest store in the world – in Shanghai.

The new flagship has a retail space of 8000 sqm, significantly larger than its previous largest store in Tokyo’s Ginza district, at 5000 sqm.

“We have wanted to open a new Uniqlo global flagship store, and in fact our largest flagship store worldwide, in Shanghai for quite some time and we are very happy to have been able to realise our dream,” said Fast Retailing China CEO Pan Ning.

“Our aim is to continue to offer our customers in Shanghai with the best possible shopping experience, and we hope many people will welcome our new location in this beautiful city.”

Besides Uniqlo products, the store is also a home to other Fast Retailing’s brands such as GU, Comptoir des Cotonniers, Princesse tam.tam and PLST.

Having opened its first China store in 2002, Uniqlo now has more than 200 stores across the nation and plans to open up to 100 new stores in the world’s second largest economy.
