Jollibee adds new markets

Filipino fast food chain Jollibee is to expand to Indonesia and Canada.

With the goal to become Asia’s largest QSR chain, Jollibee plans to broaden its overseas presence, eyeing new markets like Indonesia and Canada.

Jollibee plans to open its first Indonesian outlet early next year through a joint venture partner.

The chain is optimistic that its ‘chicken joy’ will be well accepted by Indonesians. It will make some adjustments to its products to suit the Indonesian palate, such as creating a spicy sauce sambal for the fried chicken.

The first Canadian outlet is scheduled to open in 2015 in Toronto.

JFC COO Ernesto Tanmantiong says that they’re focusing on markets where there are many Filipinos. It recently opened in Houston, Texas and is now planning to open in Chicago.

Jollibee says it also plans more outlets in China and Vietnam.
