Korean franchise expands to Thailand

South Korean fried chicken restaurant chain Kyochon is taking its brand to Thailand.

Kyochon F&B Co has partnered with Fico Group’s subsidiary Evolution Capital to open 15 restaurants by next year.

Currently, there are two Kyochon restaurants in Thailand, both operated through franchise agreements, but Evolution Capital says it will soon control the operations.

Evolution Capital CEO Sanjay Singh is optimistic about the Thai market’s potential for the brand. He says the fast food business in Thailand registers an annual sales of 25 billion baht ($800 million).

Founded in 1991, Kyochon now has 1056 branches domestically.
