US retailer eyes India

US children’s apparel retailer The Children’s Place is planning to expand to India.

The Children’s Place is reportedly in advanced discussions with Arvind Brands, said sources close to the development.

The New Jersey-based retailer offers apparel, accessories and footwear for children from newborn to 10 years of age.

Arvind Brands is also in talks with US retailer Gap and nearing a joint venture deal with Japanese brand Uniqlo. Recently, it added international brands Nautica, Debenhams and Next to its portfolio.

In the childrenswear category, Arvind Brands already has a presence through Cherokee Junior and Elle Kids. It is also planning to launch Nautica Kids.
