Samsonite plans Asia expansion

Hong Kong-listed travel luggage maker Samsonite plans expansion in Asia and the US next year.

Samsonite will open 45 stores across Asia and 18 in the US to take its store counts to 600 and 115, respectively, reports The South China Morning Post.

“In Asia, we have seen very strong growth in China and many other markets this year and they will have similar growth next year,” said CFO Kyle Gendreau.

“We believe next year will be a better year than this year.”

He said the company is optimistic about business in China, despite the country’s slowdown, because the number of travellers there keeps rising.

Samsonite also plans more brand acquisition having acquired Hartmann and High Sierra last year.
