Walmart India names new CEO

Krish Iyer is replacing Ramnik Narsey as the CEO of Walmart in India.

Iyer, a chartered accountant with 15 years of experience in the retail industry, will report to Walmart Asia CEO Scott Price.

He will lead Walmart’s wholesale business and explore opportunities to open its own retail stores India.

“Krish will be responsible for leading the growth and success of our Indian operations while also continuing to develop our future retail strategy there,” said Price.

The appointment comes at a time when Walmart is restrategising its operations in India. In October, it ended its six-year old joint venture with Bharti Enterprises to wholly own the 20 Best Price Modern wholesale stores.
