Hartmann to enter India

American luxury luggage brand Hartmann plans to enter India by opening its first store at Mumbai Airport.

“The brand will be launched in second or third quarter with the first outlet to be opened at Mumbai Airport after the inauguration of the new terminal by March this year, followed by an outlet at Delhi Airport by the year-end,” said Leo Suh, EVP of Samsonite South Asia, which acquired the brand in August 2012.

Samsonite South Asia, which also owns Samsonite and American Tourister brands, plans to open 25 stores across Asia.

The company targets to earn Rs1500 crore (US$240 million) in India by 2015. It currently runs 420 retail outlets and plans to open 60 more by the year-end.

The company also plans to acquire more brands to cater to the lower segment of the luggage market.
