Singapore-based luxury tea house TWG Tea has opened its first cafe-store in South Korea.

The shop is located in the upscale neighbourhood of Cheongdam-dong, Southern Seoul and offers 800 different kinds of tea sourced from different parts of the world.

Taha Bouqdib, head of TWG Tea, believes the company has the potential to grow in the Korean market.

“The statistics from our London store shows that Koreans are always among the top three along with Chinese and Japanese. Even in Singapore, our headquarters, it’s the same. Korean customers understand the fine products very well and have incredible appreciation for it,” said Bouqdib.

“Koreans buy experience, they love luxury, but they’re very detailed as well,” he said.

TWG Tea plans to open two new stores in mainland China this year and three in Hong Kong.
